GRRLs Ambassadors
A message from Elisa Anderson
Hello, My name is Elisa Anderson and I am part of GRRLs Ambassadors with the Minnesota Cycling Association. GRRLs Ambassadors is a program that serves the community, serves the state, and the league. It also advertises getting more girls on bikes.
The third race that White Bear Lake is at is Detroit Mountain on September 27-28. I am hosting the GRRLs Hype Tent. The Hype Tent is the red tent that in past years had been run by MCA staff, had a craft, and glitter. This year, the league wanted the tent to be run and organized by different teams that are part of the league. As one of my service projects I applied to host the tent, and we were chosen. This means that WB will be in charge of the GRRLs tent, and I am coordinating the event.
Action: The GRRLs tent will be located next to our tent at the race. In a couple weeks I will be looking for athletes and families to help volunteer.
Advocating for Biking
As part of GRRLs Ambassadors, I (Elisa Anderson) have completed a service project that helps the community become more bike friendly. I am a competitive dancer at The Dance Unit, and I noticed when I would bike to dance that the bike rack located outside of the dance studio was not a safe spot to lock my bike because it was no longer attached to the ground and was falling apart. I reached out to the landlord of the building. After advocating for biking, he agreed to make repairs. In August this bike rack was repaired and now is a safe place for bikes.
