Getting Ready for the First MTB Practice of the 2025 Season!

We’re excited to kick off the 2025 season! Here are some important details and deadlines to get you prepared for our first practice and beyond. Topics below include:
First Practice is Thursday, July 10 at Lake Elmo (mark availability in TeamSnap)
2025 WBL MTB Captains - apply by July 14
Register For Races by Aug 1 (register)
Cub Foods Fundraising Event: Aug 16 (sign up)
Booster Club nominations needed by July 14 (nominate yourself)
First Practice: Thursday, July 10
FOR ALL PRACTICES:
Indicate your availability on TeamSnap at least 24 hours before practice by checking “Going,” “Maybe” or “No”
Show up at least 15 minutes early, and be ready to ride at practice start!
Check-in and check out with a parking lot attendant.
Date: Thursday, July 10
Time: 6:00 – 8:00 pm (arrive by 5:45)
Lake Elmo Park Reserve
Action: Lot parents: 2 volunteers needed. Sign up via TeamSnap: Click on “Schedule” > Tap into July 10 Practice > Tap into “My Assignments” > Select “Sign Up”. It’s expected that each family volunteer a minimum of 2 shifts during the season.

2025 MTB Captains: Apply by July 14
The captain selection process will be similar to previous years. If you're interested in being a captain, please send an email to Coaches Kathy (kahawks@stthomas.edu) and Tren (trenblankenship@gmail.com) with a short paragraph about why you'd like to be a team captain. Submissions are by July 14.
Coaches will provide feedback on interested riders over the first couple of weeks of practice. Kathy and Tren then make a decision and announce new captains before the end of July. A couple of things to remember...
You must be in grades 9-12
You must be in your second year or beyond with the team to apply.
We plan to have 3-4 captains
How you encourage, help and motivate others are critical qualities
How fast you ride or where you place in races are not factors
Register For Races: Aug 1 Deadline
If you are interested in racing this year, the deadline for SuperPass discount and race registration is Aug 1 (no exceptions). Learn more and complete your race registration at:

You must be a registered Minnesota Cycling Association member for the season to register for races. Be sure to log in with the same email address associated with your athlete profile.
Single race: $60 per race
SuperPass (3-4 races): $170, includes State Championship

Cub Foods Fundraising Day: Aug 16
We have secured a morning slot for a Cub Foods Bagging fundraiser on Aug 16.
This is a great chance for our team to engage with the community and raise funds for team activities. Please make sure to sign up in advance!
Saturday, August 16, 2025 10-2pm
Dress code: Jersey or WBL gear, long pants without holes, closed-toed shoes
Max: 8-10 baggers per shift + 2 adult volunteers per shift.
This counts towards the volunteer commitment for lettering.
Booster Nominations Needed
We’re grateful for the many parents who support the team with their time and skills. Our team thrives on a culture of “I can help!” We are currently seeking two volunteers to fill open booster club officer positions.
